As part of the Republic Day 75th anniversary, Constitution Awareness Jatha program was organized across the state from January 26 to create awareness among the masses about the Constitution. The district was honored with the award at the Constitution and National Unity Convention function organised at the Palace Grounds in Bangalore on Saturday. Deputy Commissioner Dr MV Venkatesh received the award which includes a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh and a plaque.
Deputy Director of Social Welfare Department K. Nagaraj was present with him. Constitution Awareness Jatha was organised in Davangere district from January 26 to February 23 at important places including the headquarters of all 194 gram panchayats, 7 local bodies, opportunities provided by the constitution, construction of a classless and equal society, secular stances, equality, fraternity. Public awareness was created to involve all school and college students of the district, members of self help societies, village panchayat members and general public during the jatha.
