A Budget of Rs. 1,573.35Cr for the year 2024-25 was presented for the Hubli Dharwad Municipal Corporation (HDMC).
Rs. 75Cr for the development of wards, Rs. 5Cr for Corporation Asset Survey (GIS), Rs. 7Cr for the development of villages under the Corporation, Rs. 5Cr for the work of zip line from Nripatungabetta to Unakal Lake, Rs. 1Cr for the development of Siddharudham Math, Siddappajjan Math, Shivananda Math, Rs. 1Cr for the construction of gardens. Rs. 9Cr for public health services, Rs. 2Cr for cremation of an economically backward person, Rs. 1Cr for self-reliance of women are the major allocations in budget.
For the second time in the history of the Corporation, the team led by Mayor Veena Baradwada presented a budget exceeding Rs. 1,000Cr. Mallikarjuna Gunduru, chairman of the Standing Committee on Taxation Finance and Appeals, presented a savings budget of Rs. 12.71L to the meeting, emphasizing on commercial tax collection without imposing new taxes on the public.
In addition to appealing aspects of the people of Hubli-Dharwad, the budget has emphasized on increasing revenue. It is also proposed to issue licenses for trade and business activities at the Zonal Office level.
