Agriculture Minister N Chaluvarayaswamy said that, he has re-implemented Krishi Bhagya (KB) scheme in 106 taluks of 24 districts of the state in the budget of 2023-24 to provide rainwater for sustainable agriculture in the rain-fed areas of the state. He was answering to a question raised by MLA Dr Chandru Lamani when the Minister launched State Rain-fed Agriculture Policy, 2014.
Karnataka Legislative Assembly Chief MLA Dr Responding to Chandru Lamani’s question on dot identification, the Minister launched the State Rainfed Agriculture Policy, 2014, and Rs 100 Cr grants for the set project in the year 2023-24 has been earmarked. He informed that the programme is being implemented as per the guidelines and action plan in the package model.
Even though Shirahatti and Lakshmeshwar taluks have been included in the list of drought-prone taluks for Monsoon 2023, the state Rain-fed agriculture policy for 2023-24, the Krishi Bhagya Yojana for 2014 is being implemented only in the taluks located in the dry agro-climatic zones of the state, hence Shihatti and Lakshmeshwar taluks of Gadag district are not in the dry agro-climatic zone, Minister N Chaluvarayaswamy said.
In the budget of 2023-24, the Krishi Bhagya scheme has been re-implemented, and guidelines and action plans have already been given to the districts to implement the state’s rain-fed agriculture policy, 2014 in 24 districts and 106 taluks and the program is being implemented accordingly, he said. The Minister said that as there is only one month left for financial year of the current year, and any addition, change and its implementation will be difficult at this stage.
