Seven teams have been formed under the leadership of Udupi SP N Vishnuvardhan to probe the death of civil contractor Santosh K Patil, 37, who was found dead in a lodge in Udupi on Tuesday morning.
ADGP (law and order) Pratap Reddy arrived in Udupi on Saturday to monitor the probe and guide the investigating team. He held a meeting with district police officials. ADGP Reddy said the teams have fanned out across the state to gather evidence and talk to people who knew the contractor. Reddy said the department has requested doctors and FSL officials to expedite and submit their reports at the earliest.

Patil, a civil contractor from Hindagala in Belagavi, has accused KS Eshwarappa and his aides of demanding a 40% commission to clear the bills for various works that he had taken up.
A probe team was in Chikkamaguluru and visited the hotel in which Patil and his friends – Santhosh Medappa and Prasanth Shetty – had stayed before heading to Udupi on Monday.
