Minister N Chaluvarayaswamy Calls For Good Utilisation Of Agricultural Infrastructure Fund

Agriculture Minister N Chaluvarayaswamy has called for full utilisation of the Rs 4,500 crore grant from the Agricultural Infrastructure Fund, which is designed to empower farmers in post-harvest activities.

While inaugurating the workshop on Agricultural Infrastructure Fund, he said that there is an opportunity to provide loan facility at low interest rate of Rs. But the implementation of this should be quick and there is a need to create more awareness among the farmers, he said.

Every farmer should be made aware of the Centre’s Agricultural Infrastructure Fund. The Minister instructed that banks should also cooperate in this.

Deputy Commissioners at each district level, Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officers should review the progress month and submit the report in KDP meetings.  Will also write a letter to all District in-charge Ministers, Chaluvarayaswamy said.

Large scale credit facilities should reach the farmers when they are easily available, he said.  

 Agriculture Department Secretary V Anbukumar said that this is a very good project and it should be promoted systematically.  He said that this is a non-guaranteed and 3 percent interest subsidy scheme from the government.  

Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officers said that they will hold a meeting with the lead bank and agriculture department officials and write a letter to speed up the implementation.

  KR Meena, Director of Agriculture Infrastructure Fund of Government of India, State Agriculture Commissioner YS Patil, Director Dr GT Putra, Watershed Commissioner Girish, Director Srinivas and others were present.
