Nari Shakti to protect girlsl; 48 days of Karate training to be conducted

A new initiative called Nari Shakti has been launched by the district administration and police department to address ongoing violence against girls. The program was inaugurated by Member of Parliament Dr. Prabha Mallikarjun and Superintendent of Police Umaprashanth.

Dr. Mallikarjun explained that the Nari Shakti program includes karate training for girls from school through higher education. The training spans 48 hours over 48 days, aimed at empowering girls with self-defense skills. ‘It is essential for women to be able to protect themselves,’ she stated.

Superintendent Umaprashanth emphasized the importance of building confidence and courage in women through this training. Hundreds of female students from various schools and colleges attended the event to start their training.

Student Manaswini Pandit, who has been training in karate for eight years and teaching it for two years, highlighted the benefits of the program. She believes that extending the program throughout the district and the state would be beneficial for all women.

Coach Manisha Kabbur, who has been teaching karate for eight years, also supported the expansion of the program. She stressed the importance of learning self-defense from a young age.
