Minister of State for Railways and Jal Shakti V. Somanna, along with MP Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wodiyar and MLA Srivatsa, inspected ongoing development works at Ashokapuram and Mysuru Railway stations on Friday. The inspection was conducted in the presence of Shilpi Agarwal, Divisional Railway Manager, and senior division officers.

The Minister expressed satisfaction with the progress and announced that several trains, including the Wodiyar Express, Malgudi Express, and a weekly special train to Tirupati, will be extended to Ashokapuram Railway Station starting November 15, 2024. The station, previously with three platforms, now has three additional full-length, high-level platforms with complete shelter, three new lines, a water supply system for train coaches, and a new parking area with an additional entry for better connectivity.

The Minister noted that these improvements will help reduce congestion at Mysuru Railway Station and enhance the passenger experience. During the inspection, he reviewed the waiting halls, catering facilities, and interacted with station staff to assess their working conditions.

Following the inspection, a review meeting was held with MLAs Tanveer Sait, GT Devegowda, and Srivatsa to discuss the development progress. The meeting concluded with a commitment to complete all ongoing projects on schedule. Divisional Commercial Manager Girish Dharmaraj Kalagonda and other officials were present.
