Two officers from othe state have been honored with a National award given by the Election Commission of India on the occasion of National Voter’s Day every year to encourage best election practices.
For the year 2023 National level awards, under the General award category, Divya Prabhu, who is working as the Deputy Commissioner and District Chief Electoral Officer of Chitradurga, and  C Shikha.  Commissioner of Commercial Tax Department, have been selected for the award given to the best performing government department or organisation.
The commission considered Divya as the best at the National level through her work in electoral roll management including registration of young voters, increase in special voter registration.
C Shikha during the state assembly elections held in the year 2023 as Commissioner of Commercial Tax, the Commission considered her and the department for this award for playing an important role in conducting strict elections including public awareness, compliance of election code of conduct in the commercial sector, and campaigning for free gifts among the voters through the department.
To encourage and felicitate the officers who have worked in the elections, the Commission has given awards every year in four categories namely General category, Special category, best performing government department or organisation and best performing state.
The commission will present the awards at the National Voter’s Day programme to be held on January 25 in New Delhi every year, the release said.
