The Biennial Marikamba Devi Jatra Mahotsav Will Be Held From March 19 To 27

Sharan Acharya, Head Priest of Gopalkrishna Temple, announced the date of the fair in the Jatra Mahotsava date announcement meeting held at the temple hall in the city on Sunday. Ajay Nadiga lit the muhurta lamp as the fair muhurta was fixed. Pooja was offered to Goddess Marikamba.

The pre-rituals related to Jatra Mahotsav will start from January 31. Installation of  Devi’s Pratishta Mandapa on January 31, first departure to east on February 27, second departure to north on March 1, third departure to east on March 5, going to cut wood to build the chariot on March 8, fourth departure to north on the same day,  On March 12,  the tree of the chariot will be brought, and on the same day, the number will be released in the eastern direction.

On March 19th, between 12.25 pm and 12.27 pm, the Kalasha of Devi’s Chariot will be consecrated and from 11.39 pm to 11.45 pm, Devi’s Jatra Kalyana Pratistha will be held in the Sabha Mandapam. On March 20, the procession of the goddess will take place between 7.27 am to 7.39 am and the Shobhayatra will be held from 8.59 am. By 1.10 pm, the installation will be done at Jatra Gadduge. Devotees will be allowed to serve from March 21. The fair will end on March 27 in the morning. Punar Pratistha of Goddess will be held on Ugadi.

In the meeting MLA Bhimanna Nayaka, Assistant Commissioner Aparna Ramesh, DySP KL Ganesh, Circe Inspector of Police Ramachandra Nayaka, Governing Body President RG Nayaka, Vice President Sudhesh Jogalekar, Dharmadarshis SP Shetty, Sudhir Handrala, Babudara Chief Jagdeesha Gowda and others were present.
