Former Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy said that a grandmother from Davanagere district, who had crawled for 5 km to get monthly pension, had shaken the conscience of the civil society and asked if the government had no mercy for giving the guarantee.
The government should not ignore such disabled people, he said in a post on social networking site X. The state government is saying that they are making people’s lives better by giving guarantees. What Hasanu does is good. But this scene is a living testimony to how life is getting derailed, he said. The agony that the grandmother has suffered has left all of us ashamed and questioned the government’s efficiency. Her grandmother hails from Kunibelakere village in Harihara taluk of Davanagere district. I am deeply shocked to see the plight of my grandmother who crawled on the side of the road, Kumaraswamy said.
