Yasir Khan Pathan, a rowdy-sheeter, has sparked controversy within his own party, prompting former Chief Minister and MP Basavaraj Bommai to demand clarification from party leaders. Speaking to the media after visiting Lingayat Panchamasali leaders in Shiggavi, Bommai asserted, ‘We are all united. Bharat has garnered more support than I have. All communities are backing Bharat, and he will win by a significant margin.’
Addressing the issue of Congress rebel candidate Ajjampir Qadri, Bommai dismissed his influence, stating, ‘He may be persuasive, but it won’t affect us.’ He also responded to Minister Jameer Ahmed’s claim that Bommai had not provided any housing in the Shiggavi constituency, calling it ‘ridiculous’ and encouraging him to verify the facts.
Bommai emphasized that the Congress party lacks guarantees for success, noting his frequent presence in the Haveri Gadag Lok Sabha constituency, which has contributed to the dynamics of the Shiggavi constituency. He expressed confidence that there is a strong momentum building for the 2023 assembly elections, asserting, ‘The Congress is merely dreaming, and that dream will not materialize.’
