The Centre has announced the promotion of 12 bureaucrats, including Rahul Navin, the acting director of the Enforcement Directorate (ED), to the position of Additional Secretary. The decision, approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, involves the in-situ upgradation of these officers’ ranks as a personal measure. Additionally, seven officers assigned to various ministries and departments have been promoted to the role of Additional Secretary. The promoted officers will take on responsibilities in the Departments of Home Affairs, Textiles, Women and Child Development, Defence, Consumer Affairs, Drinking Water and Sanitation (Jal Jeevan Mission), and Statistics and Programme Implementation. The government has also promoted officials to the position of Additional Secretary in departments such as Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Culture, Commerce and Industry, Tribal Affairs, Corporate Affairs, Defence Production, Finance, Science and Technology, Heavy Industries, and School Education and Literacy.
