PM Modi Meets President Of Mozambique, Discusses Bilateral Ties

Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with H.E. Filipe Jacinto Nyusi, President of the Republic of Mozambique, on the sidelines of the ‘Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2024’ in Gandhinagar. During the meeting, the leaders engaged in discussions on various aspects of bilateral ties, emphasizing cooperation in Defence, counter-terrorism, energy, health, trade and investment, agriculture, water security, mining, capacity building, and maritime cooperation. Expressing a strong commitment to supporting Mozambique’s development priorities, PM Modi suggested enhancing air connectivity between the two nations to bolster business, cultural exchanges, and people-to-people relations. President Nyusi conveyed his gratitude to the Prime Minister for including the African Union (AU) in the G-20. The leaders also touched upon issues related to multilateral cooperation in forums such as the UN. PM Modi acknowledged President Nyusi’s participation in the ‘Voice of the Global South Summit’ in January and November 2023. The President thanked India for its support in various development projects, capacity-building programs, and assistance in maritime security. Both leaders affirmed their commitment to maintaining high-level political contacts and agreed to stay in touch for the continued progress of bilateral relations. The meeting highlighted the mutual interest in fostering collaboration across diverse sectors for the benefit of both countries.
