Tirthahalli
The residents of Tirthahalli are facing challenges in amending their Aadhaar details, leading to daily queues at the central post office, which houses the only correctional center in the area. While amendments were previously allowed in various government offices, they are now limited to the Head Post Office. With only one staff member assigned for corrections and a cap of 30 corrections per day, the process is causing inconvenience, especially for those in rural areas who lack adequate transportation facilities to reach the office early in the morning. Aadhaar amendments, including changes to address, photo, birth certificate, mobile number, name, gender, and biometrics, are crucial for accessing government facilities. Cards older than 10 years must be updated, or individuals risk being deprived of services like ration facilities, ‘Grihalakshmi Yojana,’ free bus services, bank account access, PAN card issuance, voter card renewal, and education verification. Despite the recent opening of the Karnataka One Center at Tirthahalli Taluk Center, which is intended to provide multiple government services under one roof, the shortage of staff in the taluk administration is hindering the smooth delivery of services. Local resident Manjesh G.K expressed concerns about the public’s struggles to accomplish tasks even in general service centers.
