In connection with the ₹51 crore fraud case at Hescom’s Hubli warehouse, five individuals, including an accountant and assistant executive engineers, have been suspended. The suspended individuals are Accountant Benjamin Maskners, Assistant Accountant U.S. Ullagaddi, and Assistant Executive Engineers Vishwanath Shirahattimath, Vasantakumar Rathoda, and Anjinappa B. A dedicated team of five officers was formed to investigate the incident. After a three-year investigation, the team submitted an interim report. Based on this report, the managing director of Hescom ordered the suspension of the five individuals. The case revolves around Basavaraja C. Malimath, who served as a Store Keeper in Hescom’s Work and Care City Division from 2007 to July 31, 2023, and later as a Warehouse Keeper in the Rural Division from 2014 to July 31, 2023. A complaint was filed against Malimath for alleged misconduct during this period. According to the investigation report, Basavaraja Malimath misappropriated materials worth ₹51,69,49,054 in four separate cases, causing a significant financial loss to the company. The suspended individuals are accused of dereliction of duty, misappropriation of materials, and creating false documents without physically transferring the materials between warehouses.
