In a significant breakthrough, the diligent efforts of the city north police station staff led to the arrest of two notorious serial thieves, Mohammed Asif alias Asif alias Azmi (32) and Mohammed Safwan (21), both hailing from Kasba Bengre. The arrests were accompanied by the recovery of two stolen scooters and two laptops, totaling an estimated value of Rs 1,20,000. The duo’s criminal activities spanned across various locations, including thefts at Grama Seva Kendra in Padubidri, Skynet mobile phone store at Kadri junction, Vinayaka Traders paint shop, a building under construction at Kadri Kambala, Leela Hotel, Sharavu Enterprises, Bantwal cooperative society, as well as the theft of a scooter at north deck and Monkey stand. With this operation, the police successfully cracked three theft cases at Mangaluru south police station, three at Bantwal town police station limits, and one each from Mangaluru south and north police stations. The collaborative effort was led by Mangaluru north police station inspector Ajmat Ali, supported by police sub-inspector Faizunnisa and station staff, under the guidance of ACPs Siddarth Goel and Dinesh Kumar, and under the overarching leadership of Police Commissioner Anupam Agarwal.
