Agriculture Minister Cheluvarayaswamy said that under the Pradhan Mantri Crop Insurance Scheme, 2023 Monsoon season crop harvesting experiments are in the final stage and based on the final yield of the crop harvesting experiments, the crop insurance compensation is calculated and settled by the insurance company in a time frame.
Answering a question from MLA Sharanu Salagara, the Minister said that farmers have registered for various crops in the monsoon season of 2023 under the Karnataka Farmer Insurance Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana. Information has been given to the implementing insurance company about crop loss due to specific natural calamities. Based on this information, the district level joint committee will conduct a joint survey according to the revised guidelines of the Central Government’s Prime Minister Fasal Bima Yojana and the process of settling the crop insurance compensation amount based on the survey report will be in progress.
The Minister has responded to the question asked by the MLA to provide details regarding the delay in depositing the crop insurance money to the insurance account of the farmers due to lack of rain in the Basavakalyan constituency.
