Minister for Backward Classes Welfare and Kannada and Culture Shivraj Thangadagi has said that efforts should be made on a large scale to introduce diverse folk arts of Karnataka to Bangaloreans who are living under the stress of city life.
He was speaking on the steps of Ravindra Kalakshetra on Sunday, inaugurating our folk festival programme by lighting the desi lamp.
The language and culture of Kannada is attractive to everyone but we have reduced the use of Kannada language in Bengaluru, if we don’t leave the fascination of foreign language, there can be no growth of Kannada in Bengaluru, he said. English is necessary for life, learn it, but use Kannada as our daily language, it is our language, so young people should use Kannada.
Actress Pooja Gandhi, hailing from distant Punjab, learned Kannada and practiced speaking it, which is commendable. He said that if others learn and use Kannada like him, the prosperity of Kannada will become his own.
As part of the Golden Jubilee of Karnataka Namakarana, Department of Kannada and Culture intends to organise such grand and grand events every month throughout the year. Minister Shivraj Thangadagi said that programmes will be organized in the next four months in all the four revenue divisions, after which another golden celebration program will be organized in Bengaluru on a grand scale.
Actress Pooja Gandhi, said that Kannada is the most beautiful language, it has given me life. She said that I am in the film industry from Kannada. Quoting Basaveshwara’s verse in her speech, she said that everyone in the Kannada nation should develop respect and esteem for Kannada.
Chiranjeevi Singh, retired Additional Chief Secretary was present on the occasion. Kannada and Culture Department Secretary Dr. N Manjula Director Dr. Dharani Devi Malagatti and founder of Novel Trust Chandra Jain and many others were present.
