Former Karnataka minister and BJP leader V Somanna expressed regret on Saturday, stating that contesting in two seats was his biggest mistake. Somanna shared his disappointment during a visit to Siddaganga Mutt in Tumakuru, where he revealed that he was compelled to contest two seats against his wishes. Somanna mentioned that he was pressured into contesting from both Chamarajanagara and Varuna constituencies, a decision he now considers a mistake. He recounted a visit by Home Minister Amit Shah to his home, lasting 2-3 hours, and a subsequent call from Prime Minister Narendra Modi urging him to contest. Despite expressing his reservations, Somanna contested both seats in the previous elections and faced defeat in both. In response to Somanna’s comments, former Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa stated that he is attempting to contact Somanna and expressed the party’s efforts to retain him. Yediyurappa remarked that if Somanna decides to leave the party, there’s little they can do.
