India ended Day 2 of the second Test against West Indies in commanding fashion, restricting the visitors to 140/4, trailing by 378 runs in the first innings at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium. The spin duo of Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav played a pivotal role in India’s dominance.
India declared their innings at 518/5 in 134.2 overs, powered by centuries from Captain Shubman Gill (129) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (175). Left-arm spinner Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav shared the wickets for India, with Jadeja taking 3/37 and Kuldeep claiming 1 wicket, while West Indies’ Jomel Warrican had a notable 3/98 for the visitors.
West Indies showed some resistance in the final session, adding 114 runs but losing three key wickets. Jadeja dismissed Tagenarine Chanderpaul (34) and skipper Roston Chase (0), while Kuldeep removed Alick Athanaze (41). At stumps, Shai Hope (31) and Tevin Imlach (4) were unbeaten for the visitors.
India resumed the day at 427/4, with Gill and Dhruv Jurel at the crease. Gill reached his century in the 130th over and helped the team cross 500 runs. Partnerships with Nitish Kumar Reddy and Jurel ensured India built an unassailable lead before declaring.
The first session had seen Jaiswal’s superb innings of 175 come to an end, followed by Gill and Reddy countering the bowlers with brisk scoring. India’s spinners then exploited the turning track, putting West Indies firmly on the back foot.
