Family Dispute, Youth Commits Suicide, Case Registered Against 8 People Including An Inspector

An FIR has been registered against eight persons, including an Inspector and an ASI of Keshwapur Police station, in connection with the suicide of 28-year-old Nikhil Kundgol of Kotalinganagar here. Keshwapur Police station Inspector UH Nikhil’s mother Geetha Kundagol has lodged a complaint against Sathenahalli, ASI Jayashree Chalavadi, deceased’s wife Preethi Pogalapura, Dhanraj, Manjula, Anandappa and their family members.

Nikhil’s wife’s family, as well as the Inspector and ASI of Keshwapur Police station, had issued a notice to his son late on Thursday night. She alleged that he committed suicide.

 The couple got married in December 2022 with the consent of Nikhil and Preeti’s family. After some time, Nikhil and his family alleged that the girl was having an illicit relationship. In this background, there was a war of words between the two families. After the scuffle, Nikhil was summoned to the police station on Friday.  He was asked to return Rs 2 lakh cash, utensils and gold ornaments given during marriage, failing which a dowry harassment case will be filed.  Upset over this, Nikhil has committed suice, it is alleged in the complaint.

Police Commissioner Renuka Sukumar told, a case has been registered against eight people, including our staff, at the Old Hubli police station in this regard. The family of the deceased said in the complaint that the Police had harassed Nikhil. An investigation will be carried out from all sources. Action will be taken if harassment is found to be the reason for the suicide, she said.
