Rajyotsava Dhimanta Award Conferred On 68 Achievers

Various government departments, social organisations as well as schools and colleges celebrated 68th Karnataka Rajyotsava across the city.
HDMC took out a procession of tableaux on account of Rajyotsava from Siddharoodh Math to Channamma Circle. MLAs Arvind Bellad, Prasad Abbayya, Mahesh Tenginakai, mayor Veena Baradwad and others inaugurated the procession, which passed through Old Hubballi.

In the evening,Rajyotsava Dhimanta award was conferred on 68 achievers of the twin cities at Indira Glass House. Urban Tahsildar Kalagouda Patil and Rural Tahsildar Prakash Nashi offered puja to the portrait of Kannadambe at the Mini Vidhana Soudha. Taluk level officials of various departments attended the occasion.
Advocate and Syndicate member Mohan Bhajantri recalled the contribution of 
Karnataka to the nation in all walks of life. Addressing the Rajyotsava function at the Karnataka State Law University (KSLU), he said that Karnataka has been a shelter for various religious and different linguistic people. Other syndicate members HV Belagali, Vasant Ladawa and vice-chancellor C Basavaraju spoke on the occasion.

Journalist Bandu Kulkarni said that North Karnataka activists played a crucial role in renaming the state as Karnataka instead of Mysuru. School founder president Mahendra Singhi said that apart from learning other languages, one should respect regional languages like Kannada. Students presented a play projecting importance of Karnataka state and the Kannada language. In Adarsh PU Science College, Lingaraj Patil inaugurated the Rajyotsava, and suggested that students use Kannada in daily life. There should not be any hesitation towards regional language, he added. Prof SB Kunnur, Prof BC Goudar and Prof Daniel Hoskeri were present.
Youths and elders took out a motorbike rally in Lingaraj Nagar. Educationist Shivashankar Hiremath inaugurated the rally, and said that Kannada can be saved by adopting it in routine life.
