District in-charge Minister Dr. MB Patila said that several initiatives have been taken to provide international facilities to the airport being constructed in the city.
He hoisted the national flag at the Dr BR Ambedkar District Stadium and delivered the Rajyotsava message. Work is being carried out to allow Boeing-type aircraft to land here by extending the night landing facility. He said that if everything goes as expected, the Airport will be operational in four to five months.
If this Airport is completed, the industrial, educational and economic ties with states like Maharashtra, Goa, Telangana, New Delhi, Gujarat will be intensified. He hoped that the Airport would become a gateway for the export activities of crops like grapes.
The government has already taken a firm decision to make Vijayapura district a manufacturing hub and the days are not far when the district will become a big center of the manufacturing sector. He said that due to the achievement of this great work, the manufacturing activities in the industrial sectors will be located here and thousands of jobs will be available to the local youth soon.
