Allegations of fraudulent activities by Anoop Kumar Choudhary, a notorious con artist from Uttar Pradesh, have surfaced in Karnataka, adding to his string of deceits across multiple states. Choudhary, known for duping individuals with false promises of high-ranking positions within central government boards and corporations, is facing a formal complaint from a social worker, S. Muniyappa, at the Vidhana Soudha police station in Bengaluru. The complaint outlines how Choudhary, along with his associate Sarita Shetty, expanded his fraudulent network across Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, and Karnataka. Muniyappa accused Choudhary of demanding an exorbitant sum of Rs 50 lakh in exchange for securing prestigious roles like a member of the Central Scheduled Castes Commission or a nominated member of the Central Railway Board. Despite receiving an advance payment of Rs. 31.40 lakhs in March, Choudhary failed to fulfill the promised positions. Muniyappa alleged that Choudhary resorted to threatening his life when asked to return the money. Claiming affiliations with influential BJP leaders and being a current member of the Railway Board, Choudhary presented himself as having close ties with a Union Minister. Sarita Shetty, supposedly a managing director at a prestigious private company and a claimed board member of the Central Food Corporation, furthered the deceit by endorsing Choudhary’s claims, extorting Rs 50 lakh from Muniyappa. Promising a position on the Railway Board through Choudhary, Shetty accompanied Muniyappa to Delhi and introduced him to Choudhary, ultimately conspiring to defraud him. The complaint was filed after reports surfaced of Choudhary’s arrest by the Uttar Pradesh Police, where he was detained by the Special Task Force in Ayodhya in connection with a fraud case, revealing a trail of deceit amounting to over Rs 250 crore across the country. Choudhary, masquerading under various roles such as BJP in-charge for Maharashtra, member of the Central Advisory Committee of the Film Censor Board, former member of the Uttar Pradesh Film Development Council, and the Central Railway Board member, leveraged his false claims to swindle individuals.
