A staggering theft involving gold, silver ornaments, and a substantial amount of cash, totaling approximately Rs 3 crore, was reported at Kanchana Jewellers on OK Road in Bengaluru. The accused, identified as Ketaram, who had been employed as a housekeeper at the residence of jeweler Arvind Kumar Tade, orchestrated the heist, absconding with valuable items during the jeweler’s absence. Ketaram, alongside associates Rakesh and Dinesh, executed the theft on Sunday between 7 am and 3 pm. The incident occurred while Tade was away in Mumbai for business, with his family members also absent from the residence. Seizing the opportunity, Ketaram acquired access to the jewelry shop by securing the keys and pilfered 4.3 kg of gold, 32 kg of silver ornaments, and a significant cash amount of about Rs 9 lakh. The accused took measures to disable the CCTV system during the theft to avoid detection. A vigilant neighboring shop owner discovered the burglary and promptly notified Tade’s son about the incident. In response to the complaint lodged by 70-year-old Tade, the Halasur Gate police have registered a case, naming Ketaram as the primary suspect, and intensified efforts to locate him and the accomplices. The police affirmed their pursuit, stating they possess details regarding the primary accused and are actively pursuing leads to apprehend the culprits. The audacious theft has stirred apprehension within the local community, prompting a thorough investigation by law enforcement agencies to recover the stolen items and bring the perpetrators to justice. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of security measures and vigilance, especially in the handling of valuable assets.
