Delhi Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena has granted sanction for the prosecution of 10 Delhi Police officials in a case involving the embezzlement of government funds totaling Rs 2.44 crores. The FIR against these officials, which includes Sub-Inspectors, Head Constables, and Constables, was registered by the Economic Offence Wing (EOW) in 2019 for offenses including cheating, criminal conspiracy, and criminal breach of trust. The accused individuals have been charged with embezzling funds that were intended for various purposes, such as salary, arrears, and tuition fees, for their personal use. The Home Department submitted the request for prosecution, highlighting evidence such as disclosure statements and witness statements that suggest the involvement of these officials in the misappropriation of government funds. While four of the accused have already been dismissed from service, the legal proceedings against the remaining six are expected to move forward with this sanction.
