During the inauguration of the Khadi Mahotsav Jatha organized by the Khadi Bhandara in collaboration with the NSS Department of Seshadripuram Academy of Business Studies, Kengeri Upanagar, Assistant Director of Khadi and Village Industries Commission, Kemparaju, emphasized the pivotal role of the youth in bolstering the nation’s economy through the support of locally produced goods. Kemparaju underscored the historical significance of khadi in fostering self-reliance and patriotism, particularly during the pre-independence era. He highlighted that the current trend among the youth, leaning towards foreign products, poses a threat to both the domestic market and the country’s economic stability. Stressing the need to support the nation’s industries and farmers, he urged the younger generation to opt for indigenous goods. Jayaram, the Principal of Seshadripuram College, echoed similar sentiments, emphasizing that the encouragement of cottage industries through the purchase of Khadi products is crucial. He pointed out that the revival of thousands of handloom factories, which are currently at risk of disappearing, will significantly contribute to sustaining the livelihoods of numerous workers. Kiwi Matu, another speaker at the event, urged the youth to shift away from an obsession with foreign products, emphasizing its detrimental impact on the country’s progress. The event witnessed the presence of notable figures such as NSS Regional Director YM Uppin, Karthikeyan D from Seshadripuram College, NS Coordinator Bindu, Kiran, and several others. The collective emphasis on promoting indigenous industries, particularly through the support of Khadi products, underscores a unified call to revitalize local economies and uphold traditional crafts in the modern era.
