City Police Commissioner B. Dayanand, following a monthly public relations meeting held by the North East Division Police at Dr. BR Ambedkar Bhawan in Yelahanka suburb, stressed the mandatory installation of CCTV cameras in commercial areas where large crowds gather, such as hotels, bars, restaurants, and shops. Stipulated by the Public Safety Act, the regulation mandates CCTV installations in shops frequented by over 100 individuals, under the guidance of the police. Emphasizing the need for high-quality cameras, extended storage capabilities, strategic camera placement, and adherence to maintenance protocols, a police representative highlighted the importance of these security measures. During the meeting, citizens expressed grievances about chaotic parking around roads, hotels, and restaurants, causing public inconvenience. In response, Commissioner Dayanand directed local police to take appropriate action to address these issues. Moreover, concerns were raised regarding activities near bakeries, including smoking and instances of harassment, leading the public to voice their distress before the commissioner. Acknowledging these concerns, Dayananda reiterated the ban on smoking near bakeries and instructed local authorities to ensure the placement of ‘no smoking’ boards near all bakery premises. In an effort to combat drug-related issues, the commissioner highlighted the proactive measures taken by officers and staff. Regular visits to schools and colleges on the last day of each month are aimed at raising awareness about the dangers associated with drug networks among students. The emphasis on installing CCTV cameras in crowded public areas aligns with bolstering security measures, while the commissioner’s prompt responses to public grievances underscore the commitment to address community concerns and uphold public safety.
