Sumit Antil Breaks World Record To Win Gold In Men’s Javelin At Asian Para Games

Sumit Antil, the reigning Paralympic and world champion, claimed a gold medal in the men’s javelin F64 event at the Asian Para Games in Hangzhou while setting new world records. Sumit secured the gold with an incredible throw of 73.29 meters, surpassing his own world record, and also establishing new Para Asian Games records. In this event, another Indian athlete, Pushpendra Singh, secured the bronze medal with a throw of 62.06 meters. Meanwhile, Sri Lanka’s S Arachchige Kodithuwakku earned the silver with a distance of 64.09 meters. Sumit began strongly with his first throw, reaching 66.22 meters, which exceeded the Games Record he had set in 2018. His second attempt saw him coming close to his own world record of 70.83 meters, as he achieved a distance of 70.48 meters. However, Sumit’s third attempt was astonishing as he shattered his previous world record with a massive throw of 73.29 meters. India had a successful outing at the Asian Para Games, winning a total of 42 medals, including 11 gold, 12 silver, and 19 bronze medals, placing them fourth in the medal tally.
