More Than 20 Shakti Deities Worshipped

The Devara Banni festival, which has been celebrated since the time of Vijayanagara kings, was celebrated with great enthusiasm at the historic Dharmagudda of Basavanadurga in Naganahalli in Hospet taluk. A large number of devotees from all over the country witnessed the confluence of shakti deities.

On the eve of Vijayadashami, special pujas were offered to Sri Channabasaveshwara Swamy and Sri Nijalingamma Devi at Dharmagudda on Navami. Later, devotees from various parts of the taluk carried the utsava idol of more than 20 Shakti deities in a palanquin along with the palanquin of Sri Channabasaveshwara Swamy Utsavamurthy, who came from Basavanadurga village, and circumambulated the Shami tree at the foot of the hill. Devotees paid obeisance to the festival idol of shakti deities going to the original place.
