Irrigation Minister M.B. Patil urged Math-monyas to take the initiative in uniting the divided Veerashaiva Lingayats, who are segregated by castes and sub-castes, with Panchapeeth Jagadguru Rambhapuri Shivacharya providing leadership. Speaking at the Manava Dharma Mandapam during the Sharannavaratri Dharma Conference of Rambhapuri Jagadguru, which took place on the undergraduate college ground of the town, he recalled the formation of the Veerashaiva Lingayat Sangha in 1904 and the call for the establishment of educational institutions at the time. Historically, Veerashaiva monks and community elders played a significant role in establishing educational institutions like KLE, BLED, and HKE, achieving what the government could not. However, Patil noted that the unity of that time within the Veerashaiva society has since dissolved, with the emergence of castes and sub-castes leading to division. He expressed a desire to work towards restoring this unity within the community.
