Eighth Edition Of ‘Pili Nalike’ Tiger Dance Competition Set For Monday

The eighth edition of the ‘Pili Nalike’ (tiger dance) competition, organized by the Pili Nalike Prathistana in Mangaluru, is scheduled to take place at the Urwa cricket grounds on Monday, October 23. Mithun Rai, the President of the Prathistana and also the General Secretary of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee, expressed his excitement during a press briefing on Friday. He emphasized the remarkable growth of this annual event, which has been celebrated during Dasara since its inception in 2014. Rai stated, We have not only popularized this traditional dance form across the country but also assisted performers and team members in earning a steady income from this art form. This event is aimed at preserving this traditional dance in its purest form. This year, ten teams have been selected to perform on October 23, including Maruti Vyayama Shale Konchady, Junior Boys Chilimbi, Mulihitlu Games Team, Someshwara Friends Club, Bengre Mogaveera Friends, Mangaluru Friends Tigers, Team Golden Leaf Kavoor, Mulihitlu Friends Circle, Polali Tigers, and Gorakshanatha Tigers. Last year, the Gorakshanatha Tigers team emerged as the winners, with the Polali Tigers team as the runners-up. The Bengre Mogaveera team is a new addition to this year’s competition, promising an exciting display of the traditional tiger dance.
