District Principal and Sessions Judge Maruti Bagade, who also serves as the Chairman of the District Legal Services Authority, emphasized the importance of commemorating police martyrs and involving students in such programs. He made these remarks during the Police Martyrs’ Day program held near the Martyrs’ Memorial at the District Police Headquarters. Judge Bagade expressed that, as the chief guest at last year’s event, he had conveyed the same sentiment. However, he noted that students were not invited to the program, urging that they should be included in future Police Martyrs’ Day events. He also highlighted the significance of the police responding to the grievances of the vulnerable and exploited while on duty, stressing that officials who address public issues will be remembered for their good service. Furthermore, he recommended that District Superintendents of Police meet with the family members of martyrs at least once every four months to address their concerns. He stated that there should be a minimum of four people to commemorate the fallen, and therefore, efforts should be made to remember at least 40 individuals. District Superintendent of Police Nikhil B read out the names of policemen who had given their lives in the line of duty. He expressed the police department’s commitment to assisting and cooperating with the families of police personnel who had made the ultimate sacrifice. Nikhil B acknowledged the dedication and commitment of these martyred policemen, noting that the government provides compensation to their families. He emphasized the recognition and encouragement of the police force’s good work. It was revealed that, in the span of one year until October 21, a total of 189 police personnel, including 16 from Karnataka, and DySP Venkatesh of Raichur, had lost their lives across the country while fulfilling their duty.
