Fire Safety Inspection Ordered For All City Restaurants Following Recent Incident

In response to a recent incident where a cylinder explosion occurred in a cafe situated in Koramangala, Bengaluru, Home Minister Dr. G. Parameshwara has directed fire safety inspections to be conducted across all restaurants in the city. Subsequently, a special drive was initiated by the Fire Brigade personnel on MG Road and Church Street, with a directive from Director General of Police Fire and Emergency Services, Kamal Pant, to conduct a comprehensive evaluation of adherence to safety protocols.

Expressing concern over the incident, Home Minister Parameshwara emphasized the need for strict enforcement of fire safety norms and indicated that stringent action would be taken against any violations. He highlighted the significance of thorough inspections and oversight, particularly in the wake of potential risks posed by negligent practices. The incident at the cafe in Koramangala highlighted the consequences of inadequate safety measures, leading to the unfortunate loss of lives.

The inspection revealed several violations, including the improper storage of gas cylinders, absence of fire safety measures, and the lack of emergency exits, indicating a serious breach of safety standards. A case has been registered against the cafe owner and the building owner under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, citing negligence in handling explosives and endangering the safety of others.

The incident has prompted a renewed emphasis on ensuring stringent adherence to fire safety regulations and the urgent need for comprehensive safety measures to prevent such tragic incidents in the future.
