Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced plans to build a Mysore Film City on 150 acres of land in Immavu village, Mysore. Speaking at the inauguration of a film festival as part of the Dasara celebrations on Thursday, he shared the government’s vision to create a model film city within three years.
Siddaramaiah mentioned that the decision to build Film City was made during his previous term as Chief Minister. Initially, 110 acres were allocated, and an additional 50 acres were identified for future expansion. The Chief Minister emphasized that the government, in collaboration with the film industry, is committed to supporting the growth of Kannada cinema.
He encouraged filmmakers to produce more Kannada films and urged people to visit theaters to watch them. The Dussehra Film Festival, which runs from October 4 to 10, will showcase award-winning films from across the country. Siddaramaiah encouraged the public to take advantage of this opportunity to view both old and new movies.
The festival is dedicated to the memory of actor-producer Dwarkeesh, a significant figure in Kannada cinema. The Chief Minister fondly recalled his friendship with Dwarkeesh and expressed hopes that his children would continue to contribute to the Kannada film industry.
