The L’Oréal-Unesco awards talented young female researchers for contributing to Science each year. Swarn Priya, a doctoral researcher in the Stamp project team at Inria Center at Université Côte d’Azur, is one of the Young Talent UNESCO- L’Oréal France 2023 prize winners. The UNESCO- L’Oréal Foundation awarded her 15000 euros to support her research career.
She works in the domain of computer science. Her research involves creating secure and reliable software using formal methods, and she is working on certifying the correctness, security, and reliability of software by ensuring that it does not leak sensitive information indirectly, using machine-verified proofs.
Swarn is originally from Bihar, India, married to Basavesh Ammanaghatta Shivakumar, a doctoral researcher at Max-Planck Institute for Security and Privacy, Germany, and a resident of Banglore, India. As a woman scientist, Swarn wants to inspire more young girls in India to pursue their career in Science. In Swarn’s words: Despite all the difficulties and cultural norms, we can still flourish as women scientists if we really want to.
