Hubli
The Hubli-Dharwad Mahanagara Corporation (Hu-Dha) conducted an encroachment clearance operation on Friday for the land acquired for road widening in the area. This operation pertained to the stretch from Unakal Cross to Sainagar Circle and Unakal Church, spanning 18 meters. So far, 55 properties have been acquired for road widening, and the owners have received compensation totaling ₹3.20 crore. However, some buildings, shops, and compounds remained uncleared. These were cleared with the assistance of JCB equipment and the Corporation’s Zonal Office-5 staff and the police. The total area cleared during this operation amounts to 3,985.75 square meters. Officials from the Corporation have identified 160 properties in the vicinity for land acquisition, with an estimated compensation of ₹9.37 crore. Key figures present during the operation included Corporation Zone-5 Development Officer Sharan Basappa Kembavi, Zonal Commissioner Girisha Talwar, Engineer Rathoda, Abhishek, Manjunath, Revenue Inspector Pamadi, Ravi, and Ishwar.
