Udupi

The Jayashreekrishna Parisara Premi Samiti has urged the government to develop a comprehensive, long-term strategy to combat coastal erosion in Karnataka, with the aim of substantially enhancing tourism in the region. Speaking at a press conference in Udupi, Thonse Jayakrishna Shetty, the founder of the Samiti, stated, For the past 23 years, the Jayashreekrishna Parisara Premi Samiti has been actively involved in various development initiatives for the twin districts. Our efforts, including attracting the Nagarjuna Thermal Power Project to Udupi, elevating Mangaluru airport to international standards, extending the lease of the Kudremukh Iron Ore Company, establishing the Mangaluru–Bengaluru rail link, and creating the Mangaluru Special Economic Zone, have received accolades from various government departments and ministries. Today, we are appealing to the government to devise a sustainable solution to the issue of coastal erosion along the Karnataka coast. Mumbai has successfully implemented an effective solution for a significant period. I have already urged the Karnataka government to visit the site, assess the project, and implement a similar approach along Karnataka’s coastal belt.
