Mysuru
Chairman of the Mysuru District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) ML Raghunath, also the principal district and sessions judge, endorsed the use of technology in the judicial system, which he said, would help save money and time. Raghunath, who inaugurated the one-day workshop on rules for video conferencing in courts organised jointly by the department of prosecutions, and police at the district superintendent of police’s office in city, said, “The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Personnel, Public, Grievances, Law and Justice, has issued directions to all courts to adopt technology to encourage virtual sessions. Virtual sessions held during the pandemic were used effectively for the delivery of justice. Advocates must learn the manner in which these virtual sessions are conducted.”

The judge also pointed out that the Centre, and the Supreme Court, had initiated the process to set up more e-courts to give a push for virtual courtroom sessions. “This will eliminate the need for clients to appear in person at the court,” Raghunath said.

Retired judge R Chandrashekhar, Mysuru district Superintendent of Police R Chethan, Additional Superintendent of Police R Shivakumar, District Principal Public Prosecutor HE Chinnappa and Mysuru division law officer MS Manjula were among those in attendance at the event.
