Role Of Agricultural Universities In Empowering Farmers Is Immense, Minister Chaluvarayaswamy

In the drought situation, the Agricultural Universities have to work to give more technical power to the farmers and instill confidence in them,  Agriculture Minister N Chaluvarayaswamy said.

The Minister spoke to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah while participating in the centenary programme of Babbur Horticultural Research Center at Hiriyur in the district.

The rains this time across the state have been disappointing. This August has seen the lowest rainfall in the last 123 years.  As 195 taluks have already been declared as drought-prone, the central study team has arrived on our request. Chaluvarayaswamy said that we have requested to know the reality and check it.

We have also requested to change the NDRF stipulations.  Under no circumstances will the state government abandon the farmers, Minister Chaluvarayaswamy assured.

Agriculture is the life culture of our country and technical and scientific assistance is being provided to the farmers in the state to empower them.  In the present situation the Agricultural Universities, agricultural scientists role is immense, the Minister said.

MLAs T Raghumurthy, Dr. A Chandrappa, KC Virendra Pappi, NY Gopalakrishna, BJ Govindappa, MLCs Dr. YA Narayanaswamy, Chidananda M Gowda, former Lok Sabha member M Chandrappa, former Minister H Anjaneya, Agricultural Expert Ekantaiah,  progressive farmers and local leaders and district level officials were present.
