In Maharashtra, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has announced the appointment of Guardian Ministers for 12 districts in the state, a move aimed at enhancing governance and administration at the district level. Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, who hails from Pune, has been designated as the Guardian Minister for his home district. This decision comes after discussions and negotiations within the ruling alliance.

Ajit Pawar had been seeking similar responsibilities for ministers from his faction, resulting in seven of his ministers being named as Guardian Ministers for different districts. This move seeks to ensure efficient coordination between the state government and local authorities, streamline governance, and address regional issues effectively.

Other leaders from the BJP and NCP have also been assigned Guardian Ministerships for various districts, reflecting the government’s commitment to regional development. These Guardian Ministers will play a vital role in overseeing development projects, implementing government policies at the district level, and addressing local concerns.

This announcement holds significance as it precedes upcoming elections, including those for civic bodies, the Lok Sabha, and the state Assembly. It underscores the government’s dedication to addressing the unique needs and challenges of specific districts within Maharashtra and aims to strengthen the partnership between the state government and local administrations to drive progress and development.
