Former MLA Srikanta Kulkarni and others have submitted a complaint alleging that Mahaninga Kavatekara of Gadyala village was assaulted by the PSI and two policemen at Savalgi police station in the taluk. They have requested action against the perpetrators and warned of protests if no action is taken. The incident occurred when Mahaninga was with cattle on his farm in Gadyala village. He was allegedly abducted, blindfolded, and later abandoned near Sindagi Bypass near Vijayapur. When Mahaninga went to the Savalgi police station to report the incident, he was allegedly assaulted by PSI Gangadhar Pujari instead of receiving assistance. DySP Shantaveera stated that a case had previously been registered regarding a similar incident involving a young man named Mahantesh Athani from the same village. However, no progress had been made in the investigation. He assured that action would be taken against the culprits in this case, as a case has now been registered based on the complaint filed by the High Court.
