Agriculture Minister N. Chaluvarayaswamy expressed his dissatisfaction regarding the JDS alliance with the BJP. He claimed that HD Kumaraswamy was compelled to yield, despite former Prime Minister Deve Gowda’s disapproval. Addressing reporters during a visit to the Congress office in the city, Chaluvarayaswamy stated that Deve Gowda had never discussed an alliance with the BJP in any forum. He added that Kumaraswamy had undergone mental stress and had to surrender. Chaluvarayaswamy characterized both the JDS and BJP as sinking ships, each holding onto the other while sinking. He asserted that the Congress had no reason to fear this alliance and confidently predicted that the Congress would secure more than 20 seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
