Will Not Insist Kavitha’s Appearance For Next 10 Days: ED In SC

New Delhi

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has agreed not to insist on BRS MLC K. Kavitha’s appearance at its national capital office for questioning in connection with the ongoing probe into the Delhi excise policy case until September 26. This decision was conveyed by Additional Solicitor General (ASG) S.V. Raju, who represented the ED, to the Supreme Court. K. Kavitha, the daughter of Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, had received a summons from the ED on September 14 to appear at its national capital office. The ED’s investigation is related to the now-scrapped liquor policy of the Aam Aadmi Party-led Delhi government. Previously, Kavitha had been questioned by the ED on three separate occasions, each time for an extended period of nine to ten hours. In response to the ED’s summons, Kavitha filed a petition with the Supreme Court challenging the summons and requesting protection from arrest. Notably, four other individuals, including YSR Congress Party MP Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy, have become approvers in the case. The Supreme Court has scheduled a further hearing on Kavitha’s plea for September 26. The ED’s decision not to insist on her appearance until that date allows her more time to prepare and seek legal protection during the ongoing investigation.
