In a significant development at the newly inaugurated Terminal-2 of Kempegowda International Airport, customs officials seized a cache of items, including gold, cigarettes, and prohibited cosmetics. These items were confiscated from a female passenger who had arrived on Air Arabia flight G9 0496 from Sharjah, marking the first recorded case at the new terminal. The seized items included two gold chains weighing a total of 376.2 grams, concealed ingeniously within the passenger’s undergarments. In addition to the gold, a sum of Rs 65,200 was discovered in the possession of two male passengers who had arrived from Dubai on the same Indigo flight 6E 1486. Further inspection revealed that one of the passengers had stashed a significant quantity of cigarettes in his check-in luggage, totaling 57,200 cigarette sticks carefully packed in boxes. Another male passenger on the same flight was apprehended with 8,000 foreign cigarettes and 348 boxes of banned beauty creams, according to customs sources. This incident underscores the vigilant efforts of airport customs officials in preventing smuggling activities and enforcing regulations. The interception of these smuggled items not only upholds the law but also safeguards public health and safety, particularly in the case of prohibited cosmetics and unauthorized cigarettes. Airport authorities remain committed to maintaining the integrity and security of the airport while ensuring compliance with customs regulations.
