Health Minister Dinesh Gundurao said that girls who use Menstrual Cups are ambassadors for My Maitri Yojana. He was speaking at the launch of my Maitri Men Strual Cup distribution programme on Monday.
The use of menstrual cups instead of sanitary napkins has been well received by most of the girls. Also, Health Minister Dinesh Gundurao expressed the opinion that these cups are environment friendly. Earlier sanitary napkins were distributed under Shuchi Yojana. Disposal of napkins was a big problem for girls. This is a natural process. Instead of napkins, Menstrual Cups can be reused for up to five to six years. Therefore, it is necessary to create awareness about this among girls, he said.
Legislative Assembly Speaker UT Khader welcomed the new experiment of the government and the health department. Also, he expressed his appreciation for relaunching Shuchi Yojana and said that menstrual management is important in the health care of girls. Health Minister Dinesh Gundurao said that relaunching Shuchi Yojana is a good thing.
