If the environment is good we will lead a healthy life, hence environmental protection is the main responsibility of all of us, Zilla Panchayat CEO Snehal Sudhakar Lokhande told the students. He spoke while inaugurating the Sasya Shyamala programme organised at Gadikoppa Senior Primary School.

Recently we are seeing more and more deforestation which causes more damage to the environment. Therefore, the environment should be protected by planting plants and trees. It is the responsibility of all of us and the urgency of today. In terms of environmental protection, you as students have a lot of responsibility and called upon every child to plant and nurture at least one plant in their homes and schools.

DDPI CR Parameshwarappa said that a total of 24,284 saplings will be planted in selected schools in the district, including 18,718 for senior primary school children and 5,566 for high school children based on the attendance of school children and space. Children should become more aware of the environment. After planting, 10 liters of water should be applied per plant per week. After planting saplings, saplings will be distributed to the children for stewardship. Children should water the plants for 3 consecutive years. He said that the children who grow well will be rewarded in the school.

BEO Nagaraj said that the government’s innovative programme Sasya Shyamala to plant 50 lakh saplings around schools with space in one year in collaboration with the Education Department and the Forest Department was launched across the state.
