Chitradurga
Five persons were killed in a collision between a KSRTC bus and a lorry on National Highway 150 (A) at Gollahalli village in Hiriyur taluk this morning. The bus was on its way to Bengaluru from Raichur. While two people in the bus died on the spot, three others succumbed to their injuries on the way to the hospital. Some were injured.
Five people, including a child, were killed in the accident. The left side of the bus was completely crushed. Four people sitting in front of the left seat of the bus died. The driver fled with the truck. Aimangala police reached the spot and conducted an inspection.
The accident occurred when the bus driver went for overtaking at a high speed and rammed into the lorry. ADGP Alok Kumar said the driver’s driving license has been seized.
The deceased hailed from Raichur and were working in Bengaluru. Ravi (24), who died in the accident, had gone to Maski to see a girl and was returning to Bengaluru. The child of Sridevi, who was on her way to Bengaluru from Kadoni to work as a mason, also died in the accident. The injured have been admitted to Challakere and Chitradurga hospitals.
