Starting from Tuesday, Kempegowda Airport in Bangalore will host all international and domestic flights in Terminal-2. This move aims to streamline airport operations, offering a unified experience for passengers. The decision was announced through a tweet by BLR Airport, specifying that the change takes effect at 10:45 am on September 12. The affected airlines include Air Asia, Air India, Star Air, and Vistara, which will now operate exclusively from Terminal-2. Meanwhile, Acasa Air, Alliance Air, Indigo, and SpiceJet flights will continue to depart and arrive at Terminal-1. Initially scheduled for August 31, the integration of international flights into Terminal-2 was postponed due to technical considerations and a commitment to passenger safety. The airport management board made this last-minute adjustment to ensure a smooth transition. Terminal-2, fondly referred to as the Garden Terminal, is a testament to Bangalore’s nickname as the ‘Garden City’ of India. It boasts a stunning artificial indoor garden, complete with lifelike trees and the gentle sounds of chirping birds. This design provides passengers with a serene park-like ambiance as they journey through the airport. The inauguration of Terminal-2 took place in November last year, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi officiating the event. The terminal was constructed at an approximate cost of Rs 5,000 crore and commenced its domestic operations on January 15 of this year. The integration of both domestic and international flights into Terminal-2 represents a significant step in the evolution of Kempegowda Airport, offering passengers a unique and memorable travel experience while upholding Bangalore’s green heritage.
