Gandhinagar
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to address a gathering on September 28th at the historic Tagore Hall in Ahmedabad to mark the 20th anniversary of the Vibrant Gujarat summits. The location holds special significance, as it was at this venue in 2003 that then-Chief Minister Narendra Modi hosted the inaugural Vibrant Gujarat summit. The event is expected to include the signing of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) in emerging sectors such as green hydrogen and clean energy, underlining Gujarat’s commitment to sustainable growth and innovation. The concept of Vibrant Gujarat summits was introduced during a challenging period for the state. Gujarat had faced the impact of the Kandla cyclone, poor monsoons, water scarcity, the devastating Kutch earthquake, and the aftermath of the Godhra riots. Chief Minister Modi conceived and organized the first Vibrant Gujarat global summit to rejuvenate the state’s image as a top investment destination. Before Vibrant summits, the traditional approach involved chief ministers traveling abroad to engage with potential investors. However, Modi’s approach brought investors from around the world to Gujarat instead, setting a new trend that other states soon followed by hosting similar events. The 20th-anniversary celebration of the Vibrant Summit will also include the felicitation of key officials like A.K. Sharma and Maheshwar Sahu, who played pivotal roles in the success of previous editions of the summit. The Vibrant Gujarat summits have played a significant role in promoting investment, economic growth, and innovation in the state, and their 20th anniversary marks a significant milestone in Gujarat’s journey as an investment hub.
